Project Description: Banner Refresh for Seeds of Hope Summer Day Camp
Client: Seeds of Hope Summer Day Camp — a program of Youth Unlimited Toronto (Jane/Finch)
Project Type: Banner Refresh / Event Signage
Services Provided: Graphic Design, Branding, Print Production, Donor Recognition Layout
Overview
NAV Branding refreshed the primary event banner for Seeds of Hope Summer Day Camp, a community-driven program in the Jane/Finch neighbourhood supported by donors through Youth Unlimited Toronto. The refreshed banner needed to celebrate the camp’s mission while acknowledging donors, communicate the program’s spirit, and perform across events, fundraisers, and on-site displays. The campaign tagline used on the banner reads: “Moulding the future of Jane Finch — and the donors of the camp program of Youth Unlimited Toronto.”
Issues Identified
Visual Fatigue: The previous banner had dated graphics and a crowded layout that didn’t capture the energy of the camp or read well from a distance.
Poor Donor Visibility: Donor recognition felt like an afterthought and lacked hierarchy, reducing the impact of sponsor acknowledgements.
Event Versatility: The banner needed to work across multiple contexts (outdoor events, gym displays, fundraising tables) and still remain legible and vibrant.
Print & Durability Concerns: The old asset wasn’t optimized for large-format print—colors, bleed, and material choices caused inconsistent results.
Creative Solution & Key Outcomes
Bright, Playful Visual Direction: We introduced a fresh color palette anchored by warm, optimistic tones and high-contrast accents. Custom photo-focused hero art of children at play and subtle hand-drawn elements convey joy and community.
Clear Hierarchy for Message & Donors: The tagline is presented prominently with a bold, friendly type treatment. Donor logos and names were organized into tiered sections (Lead Donors, Supporters, Community Partners) so recognition is visible without overpowering the primary message.
Flexible Layout System: The design was created with modular zones — hero message, donor zone, contact/CTA strip — so the banner can be scaled, cropped, or repurposed (social banners, event backdrops, check-in signage) without losing clarity.
Print-Ready Optimization: Files were prepared for large-format production with appropriate bleeds, CMYK color profiles, and emboss/spot-UV options called out for premium donor banners. We recommended materials and finishes to maximize outdoor durability and visual impact.
Deliverables
Full-bleed, print-ready banner file (AI, PDF) sized for common formats (6' x 3', 8' x 4', 2' x 6' retractable).
Separate donor-layout variants: full banner, compact donor strip, and social/web versions for digital promotion.
Mounting-ready specs and print recommendations: 13 oz vinyl for outdoor, 18 oz blockout for high-sun locations, indoor retractable (matte finish) for fundraising tables. Grommet placement and hem details included.
Optional premium donor print spec sheet (spot-UV/laminate & soft-touch finishes) for lead sponsor recognition pieces.
Production & Material Recommendations
Standard events: 13 oz matte vinyl with reinforced hem and grommets.
Premium donor display: 18 oz blockout vinyl with satin lamination or spot-UV for logos.
Indoor/retractable: Retractable banner with matte finish to avoid glare during presentations.
Mounting hardware: Lightweight frame options and carrying cases for portability.
Client Feedback & Impact
Seeds of Hope and Youth Unlimited Toronto praised the refreshed banner for its energy, clarity, and professional donor presentation. Event staff reported the banner improved wayfinding at camp sites and created a stronger visual presence at community fundraisers. Donors responded positively to the clear tiered recognition — several expressed appreciation for the premium treatment of their logos and requested printed donor strips for use in sponsor displays.
Why It Worked
NAV Branding balanced emotional storytelling (kids, community, hope) with practical event needs (legibility, durability, donor recognition). The modular design system ensures the banner can scale as the program grows while preserving its core message: Seeds of Hope is actively shaping the future of Jane/Finch — and its supporters are part of that story.
At NAV Branding, we design assets that do more than look good — they amplify mission, build community trust, and make fundraising moments count.
