Project Description: Squarespace Website Redesign & Build for Autism Toronto
Client: Autism Toronto
Project Type: Squarespace Website Redesign & Build
Services Provided: Squarespace Design & Development, UX & Information Architecture, Accessibility-First Design, SEO Setup, Content Migration, Training & Handover
Overview
NAV Branding partnered with Autism Toronto to redesign and rebuild their website on Squarespace, creating a calmer, clearer, and more accessible digital experience for families, caregivers, and professionals seeking timely support. The objective was to transform a content-heavy site into a user-friendly platform where visitors can quickly find programs, resources, events, and contact pathways—while ensuring Autism Toronto’s internal team can confidently manage updates without developer dependency.
Issues Identified
Hard-to-Navigate Content: Key information (programs, eligibility, resources, events) was spread across pages without a consistent structure, making it difficult for visitors to find what they needed quickly.
Accessibility & Readability Gaps: Some layouts lacked clear hierarchy and scannability—creating friction for neurodiverse users and busy caregivers.
Mobile Experience & CTAs: Primary actions (register, get support, donate, contact) were not consistently prioritized on mobile, limiting conversions and engagement.
Content Management Bottlenecks: Updates and page edits needed a cleaner system so staff could publish events, resources, and announcements efficiently.
SEO Inconsistencies: Metadata, page titles, and on-page structure required optimization for discoverability and clearer search results.
Key Outcomes
Rebuilt on Squarespace for Speed & Maintainability: We implemented a structured Squarespace build that keeps the site easy to manage long-term—empowering staff to update content, publish events, and adjust program info quickly.
Improved Information Architecture: NAV restructured the navigation and page hierarchy so users can reach important destinations in fewer clicks—Programs, Resources, Events, Get Support, About, Donate—with clearer page pathways.
Accessible, Calm Visual System: The new design uses a clean grid, generous spacing, and high-legibility typography to reduce cognitive load. Color contrast and layout choices were made to support accessibility and comfort.
Conversion-Focused CTAs: We added consistent call-to-action placements across the site, guiding visitors to register for programs, request support, sign up for updates, volunteer, or donate without feeling pushy.
Mobile-First Layouts: Every key page was designed with mobile users in mind, ensuring contact info, program details, and action buttons remain prominent and easy to use.
SEO Foundations Installed: NAV implemented Squarespace SEO best practices including optimized titles, meta descriptions, headings, clean URL structures, and image alt text—improving search performance and clarity in Google results.
Content Migration & Cleanup: Existing copy and pages were streamlined for clarity, broken into scannable sections, and migrated into consistent Squarespace templates for a unified user experience.
Team Training & Handover: Autism Toronto received a simple admin playbook and training so staff can confidently manage the site—upload resources, update pages, post events, and maintain consistency.
