Overview

NAV Branding created a suite of professional, on-brand business cards for the Canadian Youth Soccer Academy (CYSA) — a youth development program under the Canadian Youth Sports Foundation. The cards needed to represent both the energetic, youth-focused side of the academy and the professional, trust-building presence required for coaches, program directors, and partner outreach. Our design aimed to be instantly recognizable, flexible for multiple uses, and easy to reproduce across print and digital formats.

Issues Identified

  • Inconsistent Collateral: CYSA lacked cohesive print materials that matched the broader CYSF identity, creating mixed impressions during in-person outreach.

  • Two Audiences, One Asset: The cards needed to speak to two different audiences — families/players (friendly, approachable) and partners/sponsors (professional, credible).

  • Practical Constraints: The design had to work within tight print budgets, be legible at small sizes, and include essential contact and registration information without feeling cluttered.

Key Outcomes

  • Dual-Tone Design System: We produced two complementary card variants — a player-facing version with energetic iconography and playful typography, and a professional version for staff and partners with a clean, authoritative layout. Both use CYSF’s color palette and maple-leaf motif for instant brand recognition.

  • Smart Information Hierarchy: Contact details (name, role, phone, email), a short tagline, and a clear website/registration CTA are prioritized. A QR code linking directly to the program registration page was added for frictionless conversions.

  • Two-Sided Utility: Front side emphasizes brand and logo lockup; back side contains contact details and the QR/CTA — maximizing visual impact while keeping essential info accessible.

  • Print-Ready Specifications: Files were delivered in CMYK, 300 DPI, with bleed and dielines. Recommended production: 350gsm matte stock, rounded corners option, and soft-touch finish for the partner cards to convey premium quality.

  • Flexible Templates: We supplied editable templates for quick updates (e.g., new coach contact info or event-specific versions), enabling fast in-house edits without designer dependency.
